Where to eat and stay in Rowy - a practical guide

Fresh fish from the port, fish and chips shops, and local cuisine, plus an overview of accommodation options in Rowy. How to plan your seaside getaway.

Rowy is a cozy seaside village where the tourist season fuels its food and accommodation needs. Although the town is small, it's easy to find places to eat and stay overnight in the summer. Here's what to consider when planning your stay.

Where to eat - choose fish

Fish is a natural choice in Rowy. The active fishing port means fresh produce is often available straight from the boats, and fish fryers are classic seaside cuisine—fried cod, flounder, and herring are all dishes worth trying. Restaurants serving Polish cuisine, pizza, ice cream, and coffee are also open during the season. Buying fish directly from the port is a good way to prepare a fresh meal yourself if you're staying in a property with a kitchenette.

Types of accommodation

Accommodation in Rowy consists primarily of private rooms, guest rooms, summer cottages, guesthouses, and recreation centers. Due to the seasonal nature of the village, many establishments operate primarily from late spring to early autumn, although some also welcome guests in the off-season. When choosing a location, it's worth considering the proximity to the beach and port—in the small town of Rowy, most establishments are within a convenient walking distance of the sea.

How to choose and when to book

During the peak season (July-August), accommodations in Rowy can fill up quickly, so booking in advance is wise. Outside of the summer months and during the so-called Polish Indian summer (September-October), it's easier to find vacancies, and the countryside is quieter and often less expensive. When choosing, it's worth considering the type of vacation: families with children will appreciate accommodations close to the beach and play areas, while active people will appreciate the proximity of the national park trails and the Velo Baltica cycling trail.

Practical tips

Rowy is well-connected by car—it's the most convenient way to reach and get around the area (Ustka is about 15 km away, Słupsk about 40 km). During the season, shops with basic supplies are open, so you don't have to worry about breakfast items. When planning your meals, it's a good idea to alternate visits to fry-up shops with cooking your own meals using fresh, local ingredients. A stay planned this way will allow you to fully utilize Rowy's best features: the sea, the port, and the proximity of the wild nature of the Słowiński National Park.
