Rowy with children - beach, port and nature for a family vacation
A gentle beach, lifeguarded swimming areas, fishing boats in the harbor, and a trip to the shifting sand dunes. Why Rowy is a good choice for a vacation with children?
Rowy is a seaside village perfect for a family vacation. The peaceful atmosphere, wide beach, and proximity to Słowiński National Park provide many opportunities to spend time with children without the crowds and rush of larger resorts.
Family beach
The beach is its most important asset—wide, sandy, and gently sloping. In summer, there are two supervised swimming areas: Rowy Zachód (approximately 400 m long) and Rowy Wschód (approximately 200 m), monitored by WOPR lifeguards. The clean sand is perfect for building castles, and the safe, gently sloping seabed gives parents peace of mind while playing in the water.
Fishing port - a living lesson
Children generally love the fishing port at the mouth of the Łupawa River. Here, they can watch the moored fishing boats, the seagulls, and the fishermen returning from their catch, and they can also buy fresh fish straight from the boat. It's a great opportunity to show children where the fish on their plates come from and what it's like to work at sea.
Expedition to the shifting sand dunes
Older children will enjoy a trip to Słowiński National Park, home to Europe's largest expanse of shifting sand dunes. Climbing Łącka Dune (approximately 40 meters high) can be a bit of an adventure for children—the walk across the sand and the view of the sea and Lake Łebsko from above are unforgettable. It's worth bringing water, a hat, and comfortable shoes, and adjusting the pace to your child's abilities.
Quieter attractions nearby
When the weather isn't ideal for a beach holiday, a good idea is the Slovinian Village Museum in Kluki, where preserved buildings offer a glimpse into the lives of the coastal inhabitants of the past. Families who enjoy nature will also appreciate a trip to Lake Gardno or a stroll along the park's forest and coastal paths. For active people, the Velo Baltica cycling route runs through the area.
Practical tips
Rowy is a village with a quiet atmosphere, so children have plenty of freedom and parents enjoy relative peace. During the season, fried fish and chips shops, ice cream shops, and basic supplies are open. The most convenient way to get there is by car; the nearest larger town with a train station is Słupsk (about 40 km), and Ustka is about 15 km away. When planning your day, it's a good idea to alternate between beach time and shorter excursions to accommodate your children's energy levels.
